Green Smoothie in Vitamix

This is one of my favorite green smoothies. If it weren’t for the “Shrek” green color, you would never know it contains spinach! It is full of fiber, vitamin C, minerals and antioxidants. If you are going to try a green smoothie for the first time. I would recommend this one. Enjoy!

Vitamin C Smoothie in Vitamixer

I came back from pilates class this morning and decided to make myself a vitamin C smoothie. I call this one a smoothie because it is blended in my Vitamix, however, these same ingredients could be juiced in your juicer. Juicing would give this drink an entirely different consistency. The smoothie is thicker and creamier than the juice. Next time I will make one with my Breville juicer to show you the difference. This smoothie is packed with vitamin C from the oranges and the apples. You also get some vitamin A from the carrots and anti-inflammatory agents from the ginger, not to mention the fact that it is loaded with fiber. Just what I need after my Pilates instructor went crazy on the ab work today!

Vitamin C Smoothie Recipe:

Makes (1) 16 oz. smoothie

SMOOTHIE INGREDIENTS:
• 1 Orange, peel removed
• 1 medium-sized carrot
• 1/2 medium-sized apple, core and seeds removed
• 1-inch piece of ginger, peeled (I cut mine into pieces, use less if you don’t like the taste of ginger-I love it!)
• 1-cup of water
• 1 teaspoon of agave nectar or honey
• 3 or 4 ice cubes

1. Add water to your mixer first, then add remaining ingredients. Ice cubes last.
2. Blend for at least 3 or 4 minutes until you don’t see any large pieces of fruit.
3. Enjoy!

Note: Please be sure to wash all of your fruit prior to blending.
